Robyn Kelly Stars At Birchip

Sprint Trainer Robyn Kelly had a day to remember at the Birchip Quarter Horse Cup meeting on 26th march 2011, Of the 4 race program Robyn trained the card, a feat not seen before in the 10 yrs of the VRQHA racing. Her winners for the day started with Hey Babe in race 1, ridden by the brilliant sprint jockey Mike Preston, who also had a day out riding 3 of the 4 winners.
race 2 was won by Cecil Henry, followed by Hot Diggity in race 3 and the Big race of the day, the Birchip Cup was won by Cecil Henry and ridden by Mike Preston, Cecil Henry was also successful last year giving him back to back wins. Mike Preston has now ridden the winner of the last 3 runnings of the Birchip Cup.
The Birchip community provided wonderful facilities for the large crowd who attended and this event is quickly becoming a ‘must go to’ yearly event. The weather was wonderful and provided a great atmosphere for some terrific racing.

Local sprint horse trainer is looking to continue his winning ways at the highly successful Birchip quarter Horse Cup meeting to be held later this month. Jack will be out to better his win and 2 second placings, gained at the 2010 meeting, his biggest obstacle will come from leading sprint trainer Robyn Kelly a prolific winner producing trainer who again will be the testing material for all other trainers.

The Race Day Program and Prizemoney have been set for this years Birchip Cup Meeting. A 4 race program has been set for the annual Birchip meeting with expected full fields, plenty of entertainment, great food and fast speed horses makes this race day a standout in the Quarter Racing calender. Anyone looking for a great day out could not go past the Entertainment the local community put on for this yearly event.

The Birchip Quarter Horse Cup To Go Ahead

The Birchip Quarter Horse Cup is to continue this race season, the Birchip area have responded to the floods in the best way possible by continuing the successful community race meeting.

The meeting is to be held on the 26th March 2011

Race entry - $20 per horse to cover Association affiliation
Day Trainer fee – $20 for the day

2011 Race Season Abandoned

The VRQHA racing season scheduled to commence 12th February has unfortunately had to be abandoned. The past few months have been fairly tough on many of our country trainers who would normally participate, and some are still experiencing or attempting to recover from the recent floods, which has affected their ability to effectively get their horse ready for the season.

All trainers, jockeys, strappers and members who have paid their memberships for the coming season will be fully reimbursed.

Hopefully racing can recommence at a later date yet to be determined.

VRQHA Sprintraces at Camperdown Sunday 13th February 2011

Racing will commence at 1.00pm sharp. Please ensure that you arrive at least one hour prior to first race.

Maiden sprint 320m.

Class 1 – 2 Sprint 365m

Class 3 – 4 Sprint 365m

VRQHA Open Sprint 365m

Open challenge 500m

All races will be at the set weight of 62kg.

All races are of $1000 First $620 Second $230 Third $150 Less jockey riding fee of $40.

Nomination fee of $125 per horse for one race. Nomination fee of a horse for a second race of $100.

Nominations can be made by sending nomination form to the club via email to vrqha.info@gmail.com or by post to VRQHA, PO BOX 4, Linton Vic 3360. or by phone to Linda McDonald (President VRQHA) on 0414 868 172.

Nomination monies can be payed on race day by cheque or cash or deposited directly into the VRQHA account (Bendigo Bank BSB 633000-112886635).

Note: Please keep bank receipt to present on race day for deposit confirmation.

Attention Jockeys

All jockeys must be registered with the VRQHA by Friday 4th February. A medical certificate must be supplied indicating thet you are fit to ride.

Could all trainers please have their nominations to the club by friday 4th February so that fields can be set and posted thankyou. (Please watch this this space for upcoming race fields.)

Racing with the VRQHA is open to all ages of horses. However any horse over 15 must be vet checked at each race meeting before starting.
